złoto : march ’23
Contributor Polina Sevkova-Teterycz writes: “The ZŁOTO (ZŁOTO means “GOLD” in Polish) pigment is a clay waste on Palaeozoic shales (it has shiny mica in it), taken from the Złotoryja reservoir (Zalew Złotoryjski), on top of which is my family house. I grew up on this land, played as a little girl, I went for walks, watched how it changed over the years, was revitalized. I would like to dedicate this pigment to the people who have lived in this area for many years and cared for this land. The region of the Kaczawskie Foothills provides me with lots of colors extracted from the rocks, soils and minerals here. It is one of the most beautiful regions of Poland. This region is a special geological, but also historical, cultural and natural heritage.

Polina writes: “I come from Poland. I was born in the oldest city in Poland - Złotoryja. I am an independent interdisciplinary artist. I do sculpture, graphics, painting, create stone bas-reliefs for fragrances and make pigments from native rocks, stones, soils and minerals from the Kaczawskie Mountains and Foothills. Maintaining the traditions and rituals of my ancestors is of great importance to me. I profess the Slavic Native Faith, which was based on the cult of nature.”
