NATALIE STOPKA

NATALIE STOPKA is a New York based artist and educator focused on creative processes rooted in the materials and forces of the natural world. She seeks to refresh historical techniques such as natural dyeing, pigment extraction, marbling, and surface manipulation. These meticulous, layered processes allow her work to be materially rooted in a particular space and time created by the intersection of the methods involved, with a big role for serendipitous chance and a continually evolving vocabulary of texture and pattern.

Natalie teaches workshops on a variety of dyeing and surface patterning techniques at the Textile Arts Center and other continuing education organizations.
